Job Description
As a senior DevOps engineer your mainly activity is to build and operate tools of deployment and monitoring, thus you’ll work in close relationship with software developers to deploy, operate and automate processes. You will work with software architects, programmers, security engineers, web developers, other system administrators and manage resolutions of incidents in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Understand a project’s architecture;
- Understand the goal and mission of the project and collaborate with senior software developers and the CTO for best solutions;
- Recognize technical limits of a potential implementation and failure scenarios;
- Recognize potential flaws in the existing architecture, such as security flaws or hardware limits;
- Collaborate with the software developer to design software with performance and scalability in mind;
- Prepare environments, tools and methods for CI/CD and building CI/CD pipelines;
- Support via Skype or phone when it’s necessary;
- Agile methodology;
- Autonomous and resourceful;
- Responsible team player with a positive mental attitude;
- Sharing knowledge and guidelines across developers and QA members;
- Collaborate with other departments;
- Treat promptly critical incidents and provide fast resolutions when needed
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the IT industry as a DevOps or minimum four years on the field, either as a developer with strong background in infrastructure services, automation or similar, either as an exceptionally skilled system administrator with knowledge of automating tools and platforms;
- Attention to detail, high problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to change;
- Solid knowledge of application deployment and release management practices such as Blue-green, Canary, Feature-Toggle;
- Solid knowledge of IaC and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Fabric, Puppet or others is a plus
- Solid knowledge of multi-operating systems;
- Solid knowledge of networking and security;
- Solid knowledge of microservices architectures;
- Solid knowledge of infrastructure including public, private and hybrid cloud;
- Solid knowledge of VOIP systems, Asterisk, Freepbx
- Solid VMware background, experience with VMware ESXi, vCloud and vSphere or equivalent technology stack;
- Good knowledge of practices regarding performance and scalability;
- Good knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash and PowerShell;
- Good knowledge of version control systems such as Git or Mercurial;
- Good communication skills;
- Continuous hunger for knowledge.
Nice to have and other notes
- Knowledge of high-level scripting languages such as Perl or Python is HIGHLY appreciated;
- Experience with operating system packages such as DEB, RPM, MSI;
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker, Vagrant, Kubernetes;
- Experience with commercial cloud computing services such as AWS and Azure;
- Experience with testing frameworks and tools
